GTA 6 Preorder Guide and Editions: What Players Should Know

Grand Theft Auto VI preorders have been open since late June 2026, and the questions players ask are mostly practical: which edition to pick, what the bonus is and where to buy. This guide sticks to what Rockstar Games and Take-Two have confirmed and flags everything that is still unknown.

The confirmed basics

GTA 6 is scheduled to release on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two said in its February 2026 earnings update that the game “remains on track” for that date. The road here was not straight: the game was first announced for Fall 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and then to the current November date.

A PC version has not been officially announced. Press reports about one exist, but no platform or date has been confirmed, so a console preorder is the only official option for now. If you play only on PC, there is nothing official to preorder yet.

The setting is the fictional state of Leonida, including Vice City, with two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, as shown in the official trailers released in December 2023 and May 2025.

Standard vs Ultimate edition

Two editions are on sale, with prices confirmed by Take-Two and reported in June 2026:

  • Standard Edition: US$79.99. The base game.
  • Ultimate Edition: US$99.99. The base game plus extra vehicles, weapons, apparel and some locations tied to Jason and Lucia’s story.

The difference is US$20, and what it buys is additional content rather than a different game. Treat detailed item-by-item breakdowns from unofficial sources with caution and compare them with the official store listing. A sensible approach is to decide whether vehicles, weapons, apparel and extra story-related locations matter to you; if you are unsure, the Standard Edition is the lower-risk choice, and you can check later what official upgrade options, if any, Rockstar offers.

Prices outside the US depend on region and store, so check the listing in your own platform store rather than converting the dollar figures.

The preorder bonus and boxed copies

Players who preorder or buy the game before 20 November receive the “Vintage Vice City Pack”. The window matters: a purchase made after that date is not covered by the confirmed bonus terms.

Boxed copies at launch contain a download code, not a disc. That has a few practical consequences worth thinking through before you choose a retail box:

  • You will still need to download the game, so plan for the time and storage it takes.
  • A code is usually tied to one account once redeemed, so a boxed copy may not work like a traditional disc you can lend or resell. Check the retailer’s and platform’s terms.
  • Keep the code private until you redeem it; anyone who sees it can use it.

What is not confirmed yet

Because the game is not out, a lot of popular talk is speculation. As of mid-October 2026 there is no confirmed list of achievements or trophies, no confirmed heist system details, no confirmed online economy and no confirmed mission list. Series history gives context, not answers: GTA V had story heists with planning and approach choices, and GTA Online added Heists in 2015 and the Cayo Perico Heist in 2020. Whether GTA 6 follows that pattern is not confirmed.

Rockstar also announced “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, which premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 and then on Rockstar’s YouTube channel. For anything said there, go to the official channels rather than summaries.

Buying safely through official channels

The safest preorder is one placed in the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store on Xbox, or with a well-known retailer you already use. A short checklist before paying:

  1. Confirm the platform: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. There is no official PC listing.
  2. Confirm the edition and the price against the official figures above.
  3. Check that the purchase date falls before 20 November if you want the bonus.
  4. Read the store’s refund and cancellation policy for preorders.
  5. Ignore offers of “early access”, “PC keys” or unusually cheap codes; nothing official supports them.

Third-party pages and patience

Fan and service sites also summarize preorder information. As one example, this GTA 6 page brings together preorder-related material from a third-party boosting service. Use pages like that as a reading list, not a substitute for the store listing, and remember that buying boosts, sharing an account or trading real money for in-game currency can break Rockstar’s terms and lead to penalties once online play exists. Before using any service, check who runs it, what it actually asks you for, and whether it requires your login.

Waiting for official confirmation is a little like watching birds near home: the patient observer who writes down only what was actually seen ends up with better notes than the one who repeats rumors. Keep a short list of confirmed facts and update it when Rockstar posts news.
